Home theatres have become standard features in these villas, yet the acoustic treatment is often overlooked or executed poorly, resulting in boomy bass, echoing dialogue, and an overall listening experience that fails to match the investment in audio-visual equipment.

The fundamental acoustic problems in Qatar's villa home theatres stem from the building materials common in the region: marble floors, glass walls, plasterboard ceilings, and large room volumes. These reflective surfaces create excessive reverberation (typically 1.5 to 2.5 seconds RT60 in untreated rooms), flutter echoes between parallel walls, and uneven bass response from standing waves. High-end AV equipment cannot compensate for these physical room problems — only physical acoustic treatment can.

KTS provides a complete home theatre acoustic system comprising four elements. First, absorption panels (75 mm fiberglass core, NRC 1.05) on side walls and ceiling control mid- and high-frequency reflections. Second, bass traps in room corners tame low-frequency buildup, tightening bass from subwoofers. Third, diffusion panels on the rear wall scatter reflected sound to create spaciousness without echo. Our design process begins with a free in-home consultation anywhere in Qatar. We measure room dimensions, identify reflection points, and model the room's acoustic response. The target is an RT60 of 0.3 to 0.5 seconds with smooth frequency response from 60 Hz to 16 kHz.
