Karmah Trading & Services (KTS), established in 2004 in Doha, supplies Oil-Water Separators (also known as oil interceptors or grease traps) for car parks, vehicle workshops, fuel stations, industrial facilities, and commercial kitchens across Qatar. Our oil separator systems protect Qatar's environment by removing hydrocarbons and fats from wastewater before discharge to the public sewer or infiltration system, ensuring compliance with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) regulations.
Qatar's environmental regulations require oil-water separators at any site where petroleum products, lubricants, or cooking fats may contaminate surface water or wastewater. This includes below-grade car parks (a ubiquitous feature of Doha's commercial towers), vehicle maintenance workshops, fuelling facilities, industrial manufacturing plants, and commercial food preparation areas. Non-compliance carries significant penalties and can result in project approval delays.
KTS supplies coalescing plate oil separators that achieve effluent discharge quality of < 5 mg/L of free oil, meeting EN 858-1 Class 1 performance requirements. The coalescing plate pack accelerates the separation of oil droplets from water by providing a large surface area for droplet coalescence. This technology achieves superior separation efficiency in a compact footprint compared to traditional gravity separators.
Our range includes below-ground precast concrete units (1,000 to 50,000 litre capacity), above-ground steel units for retrofit installations, and stainless steel grease traps for commercial kitchens. Each unit is sized using EN 858-2 calculations based on flow rate, oil concentration, and site-specific conditions. KTS engineers provide sizing calculations and selection guidance as part of our technical service.
For car parks in Doha's commercial towers, our below-ground separators are designed with integral bypass for storm flow conditions and alarm systems that alert building management when the oil storage compartment reaches capacity. Maintenance access is via the manhole cover frames we also supply, creating an integrated infrastructure solution.
All oil separators supplied by KTS are third-party tested and certified to EN 858 and are accompanied by performance certificates and installation drawings. We coordinate with MEP contractors and civil works teams to ensure correct installation, including concrete thrust blocks, inlet/outlet pipe connections, and ventilation.
KTS also provides maintenance contracts for oil separator systems in Qatar, including periodic oil removal by licensed waste contractors, coalescing plate cleaning, and annual performance inspection. Proper maintenance is essential for continued regulatory compliance and environmental protection.
