Karmah Trading & Services (KTS), headquartered in Doha since 2004, designs and installs On-Grid (Grid-Tied) Solar Photovoltaic Systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings throughout Qatar. Our on-grid solar solutions enable businesses and organisations to generate clean electricity from Qatar's abundant sunshine, reduce KAHRAMAA electricity bills, and contribute to the country's renewable energy targets under the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Qatar's National Renewable Energy Strategy targets 5 GW of solar capacity by 2035, with rooftop solar on commercial and industrial buildings identified as a key component alongside utility-scale solar farms like the 800 MW Al Kharsaah plant. KTS is positioning as a leading installer of commercial rooftop solar, with a project portfolio spanning warehouses, office buildings, schools, and factories across Doha's industrial and commercial zones.
An on-grid solar system generates electricity from photovoltaic (PV) panels mounted on the building's roof, converts it from DC to AC using string or micro-inverters, and feeds it directly into the building's electrical distribution system. When solar generation exceeds building demand (typically mid-morning to mid-afternoon), excess energy is exported to the KAHRAMAA grid, and the building's meter tracks net energy consumption.
KTS uses Tier-1 monocrystalline solar panels with efficiency ratings of 21%+ and 25-year linear performance warranties. In Qatar's high-irradiance environment (GHI ≥ 2,000 kWh/m²/year), a typical commercial rooftop installation generates 1,650 to 1,750 kWh per installed kWp per year. This translates to significant electricity cost savings — a 100 kWp rooftop system on a Doha warehouse generates approximately 170,000 kWh annually, saving QAR 60,000+ per year at current industrial tariff rates.
Inverter options include string inverters from SMA, Huawei, or Fronius, and micro-inverters from Enphase for installations with shading or complex roof geometries. All inverters meet KAHRAMAA grid connection requirements and include remote monitoring capability via cloud-based platforms that track generation, consumption, and system health in real time.
Structural mounting systems are selected for Qatar's wind and temperature conditions. We supply ballasted mounting (no roof penetration) for flat roofs, and rail-mounted systems with structural brackets for pitched metal roofs. All mounting designs are structurally engineered to withstand Qatar's design wind speed of 45 m/s per QCS requirements.
KTS handles the complete on-grid solar project lifecycle: site assessment and shading analysis, system design and energy yield modelling (PVsyst), KAHRAMAA application and approval, procurement, installation, commissioning, and monitoring. Our ISO 9001:2015 quality management ensures professional project delivery.
