Karmah Trading & Services (KTS), headquartered in Doha since 2004, supplies Solar Water Pumping Systems for agricultural irrigation, landscape watering, livestock farms, remote water supply, and decorative fountain applications across Qatar. Our solar pumps harness Qatar's abundant sunshine to deliver water without grid electricity or diesel fuel — providing a sustainable, low-maintenance solution for locations where conventional power is unavailable or expensive.
Qatar's agricultural sector, concentrated in Al Khor, Al Shahaniya, and the northern municipalities, faces a dual challenge: scarce water resources and expensive energy. Ground water extraction from deep wells (50 m to 200 m depth) traditionally relies on diesel pumps with high fuel and maintenance costs. Solar water pumps eliminate fuel costs entirely, reduce maintenance by 80% (no engine, no oil changes), and operate silently — important for farms near residential areas.
KTS solar water pumps are available in two configurations. Submersible solar pumps are installed inside boreholes and wells, pushing water to the surface from depths of up to 200 metres. These pumps use brushless DC motors that are driven directly by the solar array via a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller, achieving system efficiencies of 90%+ on the electrical side. Submersible models range from 0.5 kW (domestic well) to 30 kW (commercial farm).
Surface solar pumps are installed at ground level and draw water from open sources such as reservoirs, tanks, canals, and shallow wells. Surface pumps are suitable for pressurised irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, centre pivot) and water transfer between storage tanks. Models range from 0.37 kW to 15 kW.
Solar panels for water pumping systems are typically ground-mounted on a fixed-tilt frame sized to match the pump's power requirement. In Qatar's irradiance conditions, a well-matched solar array provides 6 to 8 hours of peak pumping per day during summer and 4 to 5 hours in winter. For applications requiring 24-hour water availability, KTS integrates a battery storage system or elevated storage tank that gravity-feeds during non-sunlight hours.
Flow rates range from 1 m³/hour (small domestic systems) to 100 m³/hour (large agricultural systems). Total Dynamic Head (TDH) — the combination of lift height and friction losses — determines the pump and panel sizing, which KTS engineers calculate as part of our free site assessment service.
All solar water pumps supplied by KTS are from established manufacturers with global track records, backed by 5-year pump warranties and 25-year panel warranties. We provide complete project delivery: well survey, hydraulic calculations, system design, solar array installation, pump installation, controller setup, and commissioning.
KTS has installed solar water pumping systems on farms, camel ranches, landscape irrigation networks, and government facilities across Qatar. Contact +974 44505001 or karmah@kts-qatar.com for a free site assessment.
